About The Opportunity

Due to significant ongoing growth, the organisation is looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their team in south-west Brisbane on a full-time basis.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for improving performance, productivity and efficiency, to ensure that all operations are both cost and time effective whilst aligning with quality and safety requirements. You will be initially responsible for the Brisbane production facility, with potential to also lead the other production facilities in the future.

Some of your daily responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Managing staff and recruitment levels, ensuring quality and achievement of KPIs and facilitating career development opportunities for all direct reports;
  • Overseeing the production process, developing and monitoring production schedules to meet customer delivery targets. 
  • Monitoring production standards and implementing quality-control reporting of waste, optimising machine utilisation to minimise machine setup and downtime;
  • Directing and monitoring the Quality Assurance team, ensuring compliance with both safe work practices and HACCP;
  • Developing annual budgets, business plans and strategies to achieve operational goals; and
  • Utilising the collation of operational data metrics to lead, propose and implement continuous improvement activities and capital expenditure.

About You

To be successful in this role it is essential that you have significant experience in a similar management position, with a related, large-scale FMCG or food and beverage manufacturer.

Whilst not essential, qualifications in a relevant business or manufacturing field, an understanding of six sigma principals or experience in lean manufacturing will be highly regarded.

You will have demonstrated experience in effectively leading and managing staff, and the communication skills necessary to drive a positive and results-orientated culture. The ability to lead by example is essential, and you will be capable of connecting with stakeholders and employees of all levels, with the flexibility to adapt to the needs of different individuals.

The organisation is looking for someone with demonstrated history of successfully reducing business costs through the identification of production efficiencies and opportunities to reduce wastage or streamline processes.

You will need a demonstrated understanding of and experience in implementing safety procedures and processes, and be confident using and learning a range of computer software.
